Lancora Information:

Lancora (Ivabradine) is used in adults with chronic heart failure, to help lower the frequency of hospitalization from worsening symptoms. Lancora is also used in children over the age of 6 months old who have stable heart failure caused by an enlarged heart. Lancora is not for use if you already have heart failure symptoms that recently got worse before starting this medication. Lancora is a hyperpolarization-activated cyclic-nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel blocker, which basically means that it targets your heart’s electrical activity in order to slow the heart rate and lessen the strain and workload on your heart. Heart failure signs and symptoms may include shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in your lower extremities, irregular heartbeat, rapid weight gain, persistent cough or wheezing with white or pink phlegm, and chest pain.

Lancora Side Effects:

Common side effects of Lancora include slow or irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, and your eyes may become more sensitive to light. Contact your doctor if you notice more serious side effects including fast or pounding heartbeats, shortness of breath, slow heartbeats, sudden dizziness, severe headache, blurred vision, or pounding in your neck or ears, or chest tightness. As well, Lancora may cause a temporary brightness in your vision, especially during the first 2 months, which can make you see halos around lights, colors within lights, or multiple images while looking at an object. These effects typically go away as you continue taking Lancora, or after you stop taking it.

Lancora Directions:

You should follow the instructions of the doctor who prescribed Lancora to you. For adults, Lancora is typically taken twice a day with meals, in a starting dose of 5 mg. The maximum dose is 7.5 mg. For children, the initial dose is 0.05 mg twice a day with food, and the maximum dose is up to 7.5 mg twice a day. Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat, and out of sight and reach of children.

Lancora Precautions:

You should not use Lancora if you are allergic to Ivabradine, or if you have a serious heart condition, heart failure symptoms that recently got worse, very low blood pressure, a slow resting heart rate, severe liver disease, or if you depend on a pacemaker to control your heart rate. Some medications may cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with Lancora, specifically antibiotic or antifungal medication, antidepressants, antiviral medication to treat hepatitis C or HIV/AIDS, or other heart or blood pressure medications. Tell your doctor about any medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are currently using or have recently used to reduce the risk of interactions. You should also avoid grapefruit products, as they can interact with Lancora. You should not breastfeed while using this medication. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant, as this medication may harm the unborn baby. Use effective birth control while taking Lancora.
