Altace Information:
Altace (generic name: Ramipril) is a drug which is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. It is also used to treat congestive heart failure and to improve the chances of survival after a heart attack. Altace belongs to the group of drugs called angiotension converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by affecting the substances in the body to help thin the blood which helps to lower blood pressure. High blood pressure is dubbed the silent killer because many patients who suffer from hypertension do not realise that they have the illness, and so it is left untreated. When hypertension is left untreated, it can lead to heart attack, angina (chest pain) and other heart related illnesses. Altace helps to control blood pressure so that you can live normally.
Altace Side Effects:
As with any drug, there may be side effects from taking Altace including cough, fatigue, headache, dizziness, spinning sensation, nausea and vomiting. More serious side effects may include feeling faint, high potassium levels, dry mouth, thirst, confusion, swelling, urinating less, dark urine, pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, jaundice, fever, chills, body aches and flu symptoms.
