Daliresp (Roflumilast) is a prescription medication that reduces inflammation in the lungs that leads to COPD. It is used to prevent worsening of symptoms in people with severe COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Daliresp is not a bronchodilator and will not treat a bronchospasm attack that has already begun. Daliresp works through its ability to inhibit the action of PDE4, an enzyme that plays a critical role in severe pathways in the body, including pathways that affect the immune system and the inflammatory response. PDE4 also impacts smooth muscle relaxation in the body, specifically in the airways. Inflammation and bronchoconstriction (the tightening of the muscles in the airway) both play roles in the development and exacerbation of COPD. Do not share this medication with another person, even if they have the same symptoms as you. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat and keep out of sight and reach of children.

Daliresp Precautions:

You should not use Daliresp if you are allergic to Roflumilast, or if you have moderate or severe liver disease. To make sure this medication is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease, depression, mental illness, or suicidal thoughts or actions. Some people have thoughts of suicide while taking this medication. Your doctor should check your mood at regular visits. Your family or other caregivers should also be alerted to changes in your mood. It is unknown whether this medication will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk or if it could affect the nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not give this medication to a child without medical advice. Follow your doctor’s instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.
