Aldara Cream, Aldara Cream Side Effects, Aldara Cream from Canada

Aldara Cream Information:

Aldara Cream (generic name: Imiquimod) is a topical (applied to the skin) drug which is used to treat keratosis. Keratosis is a condition that is caused by too much sun exposure on the skin. Aldara cream is usually used to treat prolonged sun exposure on the face and scalp. It can also be used to treat a mild form of skin cancer, called superficial basal cell carcinoma, when surgery would not be an appropriate treatment, and to treat genital warts that appear outside the body. Aldara is an immune response modifier. The cream is applied to the skin, and this helps the body to fight the wart virus instead of just getting rid of the warts. It is an alternative treatment to ‘freezing’ the warts which can be uncomfortable. Physicians have voted Aldara cream as preferable when compared with other treatments in terms of convenience of use, less pain associated with the treatment and privacy of being able to apply the cream in the your own home.

Aldara Cream Side Effects:

As with any drug, there may be side effects from taking Aldara Cream including mild skin irritation, itching, dryness, flaky skin, scabbing, redness of the skin, hardening of the skin, changes in color to the treated skin, headache, dizziness, chest pain, back pain, cold sores, fever blisters, cold symptoms (such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat), nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite and itching or discharge in the genital area. If you experience any side effects you must seek medical attention immediately for safety.

Aldara Cream Directions:

You should follow the instructions of the doctor who prescribed Aldara Cream to you. Directions and dosage information can also be found on the pack or leaflet inside the pack. Aldara comes in cream form. It is a topical medication, meaning that it should be applied to the skin only. Aldara cream should never be ingested. Seek medical attention if the cream is ingested accidentally. Aldara Cream should be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat.

Aldara Cream Precautions:

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Aldara Cream, you should avoid taking it and inform your doctor. You must consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions including sunburned skin or skin problems such as dermatitis, a weak immune system, an autoimmune disorder, graft-versus-hot disease, if you have recently been treated for actinic keratosis, or if you have recently had a bone marrow transplant. Although it is not likely that other drugs will have an effect on topically applied Aldara, you must consult your doctor if you are taking any other medications as they may interact with Aldara Cream. It is important that you inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding as Aldara Cream may cause harm to unborn and new born babies.
The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.
