Iopidine Information:

Buy Iopidine

Iopidine (apraclonidine) is used to treat increased intraocular pressure in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is also used to control and prevent rise in intraocular pressure before and after eye surgery. It contains apraclonidine as the active ingredient. The active ingredient is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor which works by reducing the amount of fluid that is produced in the eye and increasing the drainage of fluid out of the eye. This helps to lower the pressure inside the eye, which can help to prevent damage to the optic nerve and preserve vision.

Iopidine Side Effects:

Iopidine is considered safe for most patients when used as directed by a qualified healthcare professional. However, like any medication, it has its potential side effects. Common mild and temporary side effects of this medication include eye discomfort/redness/burning, blurred vision, dry mouth/nose, dizziness, drowsiness, upset stomach, or unusual tiredness. Contact your doctor if these temporary side effects don't resolve or get worse.

The more serious side effects include mental or mental changes, slow or irregular heartbeat, severe body itching and rash, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty in breathing, and dizziness. Stop this medication and seek immediate medical attention if you notice these serious side effects. Also, inform your doctor about any other side effects you noticed not listed here.

Iopidine Directions:

This medication is available in the form of an eye drop solution of varying concentrations which is administered into the eyes in drops. It also comes in packs of plastic dispensers, each containing 1% Iopidine solution. These dispensers are typically used to administer drops directly into the eye. Consult your doctor on the appropriate dose for you and how to use this medication and also read the leaflet in the pack for more details about its use. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before applying this medication. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Iopidine. You may put them back in 15 minutes after using the medication. To apply this medication, tilt your head back and look up. Using one hand, gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket. Hold the bottle of Iopidine upside down with your other hand and place one drop into the pocket you just formed. Close your eye and gently press your finger against the inner corner of your eye (near your nose) for 1-2 minutes. This helps to prevent the medication from draining into your tear duct and being absorbed systemically. Repeat the process in your other eye if instructed to do so. Do not blink or rub your eye after using Iopidine. If you need to use other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them. Wash your hands thoroughly after using Iopidine. It's important to follow your doctor's instructions and use Iopidine exactly as prescribed. Don't use more or less than recommended, and don't stop using the medication without first consulting your doctor. Store this medication at less than 25⁰C and keep it away from sunlight and out of children's reach.

Studies have shown that Iopidine can be effective in lowering intraocular pressure, particularly in cases where other medications have not been effective or well-tolerated. The half-life of Iopidine (the time it takes for the concentration of the drug in the body to be reduced by half) is reported to be approximately 8 hours. It's however important to note that the half-life of medication can vary from person to person and may be affected by factors such as age, liver function, and other medications being taken. Therefore it is highly important to consult with your doctor for the appropriate dose for you.
