Lustra Cream Information:
Lustra cream (generic name: Hydroquinone Cream USP 4%) is a topical skin medication prescribed to lighten areas of darken skin such as freckles, age spots, chloasma and melasma. Hydroquinone works by decreasing the formation of melanin in the skin. Melanin is the pigment in skin which gives it a brown colour. It is a topical medication, meaning that it is applied directly to the skin rather than being swallowed. Dark areas of skin can be caused by birth control pills, pregnancy, hormone medication and injury that affects the skin. Lustra AF is another version of the cream which also contains sunscreen, as the sun’s rays can often cause dark spots to appear because of the ultraviolet light. The sunscreen helps to avoid this. It is a prescription drug and cannot be obtained without a prescription from a doctor. Both Lustra and Lustra AF contain 4% hydroquinone.
