Nardil Information:

Buy Nardil

Nardil (Phenelzine) is used in the treatment of atypical depression in adults that either could not tolerate or hasn’t responded to other medications. Nardil belongs to a class of medications called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which means it inhibits certain chemicals that play into low levels of serotonin and dopamine. By blocking these chemicals, Nardil leads to elevated levels of serotonin and dopamine. Low levels of serotonin and dopamine are widely related to depression and other mood disorders, so by increasing them, it can reduce many symptoms. This medication is not for treating severe depression or bipolar disorder.

Your blood pressure will need to be checked often. You may need to stop using Nardil for a short time before any type of surgery or medical procedure. Tell any doctor who treats you that you take this medicine. It may take a few weeks before you receive the full benefit of taking Nardil. Your doctor will determine how long to treat you with Nardil. Do not stop using Nardil suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Ask your doctor how to safely stop using this medicine.

Nardil Precautions:

You should not use Nardil if you are allergic to phenelzine, or if you have:
• A history of liver problems or abnormal liver function tests;

To make sure Nardil is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had diabetes, epilepsy or other seizure disorders, high blood pressure, heart disease, if you have taken another antidepressant within the past 5 weeks, or schizophrenia. Talk to your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Nardil is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Red wine in particular can cause sudden and severe high blood pressure. Nardil can cause certain side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness. Do not drive or do other activities that call for you to be alert until you know how this medication affects you. Some young people have thoughts about suicide when first taking an antidepressant. Your doctor should check your progress at regular visits. Your family or other caregivers should also be alert to changes in your mood or symptoms. You must not eat certain foods, including air dried, aged, smoked, or fermented meats, pickled herring, aged cheeses, yogurt, yeast extracts, excessive amounts of chocolate or caffeine, and certain soy products. Eating these foods can cause your blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels. Avoid these foods for two weeks after you stop taking this medication. Nardil may interact with several medications, especially epinephrine or norepinephrine, other antidepressants, ADHD medication, diet pills, cough, cold, or allergy medications, opioid medication, other MAOIs, or other drugs that affect serotonin levels in your system. This is not a complete list of interactions, and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are currently taking or have recently taken in order to reduce the risk of any possible interactions.
