Azopt Drops Information:
Azopt (generic name: Brinzolamide Ophthalmic Suspension) is an eye drop drug which is prescribed for patients with open-angle glaucoma. It is also used to treat other eye conditions that cause high pressure in the eyes. Brinzolamide Ophthalmic works by reducing intraocular pressure in the eye. It does this by increasing the amount of fluid that drains from the eye. This is the only treatable risk factor in glaucoma. It helps to drain fluid through two separate pathways of the eye, which makes it an extremely effective therapy to help manage open-angle glaucoma. Glaucoma is a condition where fluid in the eye increases pressure, and this can cause irreversible damage to the optic nerves which in turn leads to loss of vision or blindness.
