Zymar Eye Drops Information:

Zymar Eye Drops (generic name: Gatifloxacin ophthalmic solution) is a drug which is prescribed for the treatment of eye infections caused by bacteria. Zymar contains the active ingredient Gatifloxacin. It is an antibiotic in the group of drugs called fluorquinolones, and it helps to fight the bacteria in the body that cause the infection. Eye drops are an effective way to treat eye infections. One of the most common eye infections is known as bacterial conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye. This can cause for the eye to become “gunky” and make it difficult to open the eye fully. It can also cause the whites of the eyes to become pink or red. Zymar is a new class of quinolone antibiotic known as the 4th generation, and it is likely to be effective against bacteria that is resistant to other types of antibiotic.

Zymar Eye Drops Side Effects:

As with any drug, there may be side effects from taking Zymar including mild itching, burning, redness or irritation of the eyes, watery eyes, puffy eyelids, headache and an unpleasant taste in the mouth after using the drops. More serious side effects may include severe swelling, burning, redness or discomfort around the eyes, eye pain, vision changes, increased sensitivity to light, signs of new infection and the first sign of skin rash. If you experience any side effects you must seek medical attention immediately for safety.
