Celexa Information:

Celexa (generic name: Citalopram HBr) is a prescription medication for the treatment of symptoms of patients with depression. Citalopram is an antidepressant, and belongs to the group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). In patients with any type of depression disorder, the chemicals in the brain become imbalanced. These chemicals are important to the workings of emotion and behavioural patterns. If an imbalance in these chemicals occurs, then this can cause emotional instability and issues, which can cause illnesses like depression and anxiety. In patients with depression, they may experience symptoms such as agitation and irritability, panic attacks, insomnia, hostility, unusual behaviour and thought patterns, suicidal tendencies, delusions and in some cases hallucinations (including visual and audible hallucinations). According to, 1 in 4 people experience depression of some description in their lifetime, so drugs like Celexa to help control behaviour and emotions are very important to ensure that patients can live a more normal lifestyle.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Celexa, you should avoid taking it and inform your doctor. You must consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions including bleeding disorders, liver or kidney disease, seizures, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, a history of drug abuse or a history of suicidal thoughts or attempts.
