What should you discuss with your
healthcare provider before taking Xenical?
If you have a chronic malabsorption syndrome, or gallbladder problems than
do not take Xenical without first consulting with your doctor.
If you have any of the conditions listed above, you may not be able to take
Xenical.
It is recommended that before using Xenical tell your doctor if you have:-
- diabetes,
- taking any other weight-loss medicine breast-feeding,
- taking cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral),
- a history of kidney stones, or
- anorexia or bulimia
If you have any of the conditions listed above then you may not be able
to take Xenical, or you may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring
during treatment.
It is recommended not to take Xenical without first talking to your doctor
if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. Xenical is
in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to harm
an unborn baby.?
Without consulting to your doctor, do not take Xenical if you are breast-feeding
a baby. This is because it is unknown whether Xenical passes into breast
milk.Consult with your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription
or over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products. Drugs other than
those listed here may also interact with Xenical or affect your condition.
Xenical is used in the management of obesity in adult and
adolescent patients age 12 and older; this medicine is a gastrointestinal
lipase inhibitor. During the weight loss phase or following weight loss
to assist in weight management, Xenical may be used. It should be used with
a reduced-calorie diet. |
