Factors you can’t control

There are some factors which cannot be modified to control the blood pressure. This happens as many of these risk factors are inherited, such as being male or having a family history of early heart attacks or strokes.

Age
As your age increases your blood pressure increases. For men, at the age of 45, the risk commences to rise and for women, at the age of 55, the risk commences to rise. More than three-quarters of all women have high blood pressure after the age of 75.

Gender
As compare to women, men are more likely to have hypertension- until a woman reaches menopause. Generally there is near about difference of 10 years when women tend to ultimately have the same risk of cardiovascular disease as men. The leading cause of death for both men and women is the coronary heart disease.

Heredity
People with a father, brother or son who have had a heart attack or stroke before turning 55, or a sister or daughter who have had a heart attack or stroke before the age of 65, are at greater risk. Heredity does not necessarily mean you will follow in your family's footsteps. By modifying other risk factors, you can reduce your chance of suffering of a heart attack or stroke, regardless of family history.

Diabetes
Although it is still not clear how diabetes affects heart disease, but it is known that diabetes quicken the development of atherosclerosis, which in turn, increases the risk for heart attack, stroke, and reduced circulation to your feet.

Diovan is used to treat high blood pressure; this medicine is an angiotensin II receptor. It can also be used in the case of congestive heart failure and other conditions, as if determined by your doctor.
