What can you do in your day-to-day life
to control blood pressure? (Factors you can control)
Some risk factors for high blood pressure that you can't control-- gender,
age, race and genetics, but you can make lifestyle choices to help keep
your blood pressure under control. While taking Diovan to control blood
pressure you can also make these healthy changes in your lifestyle to control
the blood pressure:
If you are overweight
Try to lose a weight of as little as 10 pounds; this will make a difference
in your blood pressure. Ask your doctor about what a healthy weight is for
person of your age and weight.
Reduce the amount of salt in your diet.
Blood Pressure can be raised if you take more amount of salt. This happens
because salt raise the amount of water in your blood, which in turn raises
your blood pressure. Always check the amount of salt in the labels of the
food you buy. Do not add more salt when you eat or cook.
Add more physical activity to your daily routine
Before starting any exercise program, consult with your doctor. Walk for
30 minutes a day, either 3 times for 10 minutes each or all at once
If you drink alcohol, drink only a moderate amount
Alcohol raises your blood pressure and reduces your heart's ability to pump
blood. Limiting yourself to no more than 1 drink a day for women or 2 drinks
a day for men is definitely a good idea. If you have hypertension, abstaining
from alcohol is even better.
If you smoke
Find a "quit-smoking" program that works for you and stick with
it.
Diovan is used to treat high
blood pressure; this medicine is an angiotensin II receptor. It can also
be used in the case of congestive heart failure and other conditions, as
if determined by your doctor. |
