It is recommended to visit to your doctor or health care professional for regular checks on your progress. Effexor has to be taken for 4 weeks so that you feel better. Do not suddenly stop taking Effexor, if you have been taking Effexor regularly from some time. Your symptoms may get worse if you suddenly stop taking this medicine. It is the duty of patient’s doctor and families to watch and keep noticing the condition of a patient for worsening depression or thoughts of suicide. It is also recommended that keep watching the patient for sudden or severe changes in feelings such as feeling anxious, agitated, panicky, irritable, hostile, aggressive, impulsive, severely restless, overly excited and hyperactive, or not being able to sleep. Call the doctor immediately if you notice any of the above symptoms at the starting of the antidepressant treatment or after adjusting a dose.

An increase in blood pressure can be caused while taking Effexor. Try to learn how to measure your own blood pressure and pulse for this consult with your doctor.
