What should your health care professional
know before you take Aciphex?
• It is recommended that before using Aciphex tell your doctor if
you have
- an unusual or allergic reaction to omeprazole, lansoprazole, Aciphex,
other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- liver disease,
- breast-feeding, or
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant
If you have any of the conditions listed above then you may not be able
to take Aciphex, or you may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring
during treatment.
Consult with your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or
over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products. Drugs other than
those listed here may also interact with Aciphex or affect your condition.
Aciphex is used to treat treat ulcers, gastroesophageal
reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome;
this medicine is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Acid production in the stomach
is blocked when this medicine works. Antibiotics including amoxicillin or
clarithromycin may be used in combination with this medicine to treat certain
types of ulcers. It can also be used in other circumstances for treatment,
as if determined by your doctor. |
