What should you
watch for while taking Zetia?
It is recommended to visit to your doctor or health care professional for
regular checks on your progress. You will need to have regular tests to
check your cholesterol and other plasma lipid levels. You will also need
to have regular tests to make sure your liver is working properly, if you
are also taking a 'statin-type' drug (such as atorvastatin, fluvastatin,
lovastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin, or simvastatin).
If you get any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially
if you also have a fever and tiredness then consult with your doctor immediately.
To lower the cholesterol Zetia is used, it is only a part of total cholesterol-lowering
program. To reduce your risk of getting heart and blood vessel disease,
your doctor or dietician can suggest you a low-cholesterol and low-fat diet.
Keep a proper exercise schedule, avoid alcohol and smoking.
Tell your doctor or health care professional that you are taking Zetia,
if you are going to have surgery.
Zetia is used to lower cholesterol in the blood; this medicine
may be used alone or in combination with other cholesterol lowering drugs
(e.g., HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or "statins"), along with
a cholesterol-lowering diet. Strokes and heart attacks are prevented by
reduction in cholestrol. The amount of cholesterol which your body absorbs
from your diet is reduced by working of Ezetimibe. |
