Medications
To reduce the blood pressure and cholesterol levels, lots of people take
medications. But while reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol is important,
its also important to reduce the formation of clots, as it directly cause
the most heart attacks and strokes.
How blood pressure and
cholesterol medications work
To lower blood pressure, all blood pressure medications work, but as the
medications are different so they work also in different ways. Some work
by lowering blood volume, while others expand or relax the walls of the
blood vessels.
Cholesterol-lowering drugs work by helping to reduce the buildup of plaque
(a buildup of cholesterol and other materials in the walls of the arteries)
and helping to limit the production of new cholesterol.
Blood
pressure and cholesterol medications do not directly reduce clot formation
Artery-clogging clots can be formed when platelets stick together which
in turns causes most of heart attacks and strokes.
Plavixi works differently than blood pressure and cholesterol medications
Plavix works differently from the other medications. It helps to keep platelets
from sticking together and forming clots. This facilitates in flow of blood
more easily, and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Plavix is used to reduce the
risk of stroke or heart attack in patients with atherosclerosis; this medicine
is an antiplatelet agent. It can also be used in other circumstances for
treatment, as if determined by your doctor. |
