What other drugs will affect Crestor?

It is recommended that do not take Crestor or before using Crestor consult with your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:— - cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral);
- fenofibrate (Tricor);
- warfarin (Coumadin);
- niacin (Nicolar, Nicobid, Nicotinex, others); or
- clofibrate (Atromid-S);or
- gemfibrozil (Lopid).

If you are taking any of the medicines listed above then you may not be able to take Crestor, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment.

Do not take Crestor with antacids that contain aluminum and magnesium such as Maalox, Mylanta, Gelusil and others. If an antacid that contains aluminum and magnesium is needed, it should be taken at least 2 hours following a dose of Crestor.

Consult with your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Crestor or affect your condition.

What should you watch for while taking Crestor?
It is recommended to visit to your doctor or health care professional for regular checks on your progress. You will need to have regular tests to make sure your liver is working properly.

If you get any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have a fever and tiredness then immediately inform your doctor.
To lower the cholesterol Crestor is used, it is only a part of total cholesterol-lowering program. To reduce your risk of getting heart and blood vessel disease, your doctor or dietician can suggest you a low-cholesterol and low-fat diet. Keep a proper exercise schedule, avoid alcohol and smoking.
Tell your doctor or health care professional that you are taking Crestor, if you are going to have any surgery.

Crestor is used with a proper diet to help lower cholesterol and fat (triglyceride) levels in your blood; this medicine is HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (also known as a "statin"). It can also be used in other circumstances for treatment, as if determined by your doctor.
