Symptoms of depression
There are several symptoms which help a doctor determine if a person has
depression. These include:
Depressed mood most of the time or day almost every day.
Loss of interest or pleasure in activities most of the day.
Sleeping too much or Inability to sleep.
Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
A sudden change in weight or appetite.
Agitation or restlessness (observed by others)
Constant weakness or loss of energy.
Frequent feelings of worthlessness or guilt
Frequent feelings of death or suicide
As we have mentioned earlier that the symptoms of depression are vary from
person to person. So you don't need to have all these signs and symptoms
to have depression and it also vary from male to female. For instance, compared
with depressed men, depressed women are more likely to weight gain, experience
guilt, anxiety, eating disorders, or increased sleep. Depressed older adults
tend to experience persistent sadness or "empty" moods.
Like any other medical conditions, just remember that depression is also
a medical condition and, just as there are treatments for conditions like
diabetes or heart disease, there are treatment options available for depression.
