What should you watch for
while taking Celexa?
It is recommended to take your medicine regularly even if you not feel better;
this is because it takes near 4 weeks to get the full effect of Celexa.
Visit your doctor for regular checks on your progress.
Patients and their families should watch out for worsening depression or
thoughts of suicide. Also watch out for sudden or severe changes in feelings
such as feeling anxious, agitated, panicky, irritable, hostile, aggressive,
impulsive, severely restless, overly excited and hyperactive, or not being
able to sleep. If this happens, especially at the beginning of antidepressant
treatment or after a change in dose, call your health care professional.
Do not suddenly stop taking Celexa, if you have been taking Celexa regularly
from some time. Your symptoms may get worse if you suddenly stop taking
this medicine. Ask your doctor for advising you about slowly stopping Celexa.
Without consulting your doctor do not treat yourself for coughs, colds,
or allergies. Some ingredients in the medicines for these diseases can increase
possible side effects. Drowsiness or dizziness is the possible side effects
that may occur at the time you are taking Celexa. Until you know how Celexa
affects you, do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental
alertness. If you are an older patient then do not stand or sit up quickly.
This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting spells. Do not take alcohol while
taking Celexa. Avoid alcoholic drinks.
While taking Celexa your mouth may get dry. It will be good if you chew
sugarless gum or suck hard candy and drink plenty of water.
Consult with your doctor if you are going to have surgery.
Celexa is used to treat
depression; this medicine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It
can also be used in other circumstances for treatment, as if determined
by your doctor. |
