Actos & Blood Glucose
The major goal of type 2 diabetes treatment is to keep blood glucose levels
within the target range. The American Diabetes Association recommends the
following blood glucose goals for people with diabetes,
before taking meals your premeal blood glucose should be between 90 mg/dL
and 130 mg/dL. After meal your highest postmeal (1 to 2 hours after eating)
blood glucose should be less than 180 mg/dL.
Despite of Healthy eating and physical activity your best efforts, your
blood glucose could end up out of control due to one or more of the following
factors:
Stress or illness
Limited physical activity
Need for medication or adjustment of medication
Change in diet
Natural progression of type 2 diabetes
Forgetting to take diabetes medication as prescribed.
Taking Actos, along with healthy eating and physical activity, helps to
lower your blood glucose by decreasing insulin resistance and making the
body more sensitive to the insulin. Most people with type 2 diabetes still
make some insulin, but usually not enough to overcome insulin resistance
and control their blood glucose. Actos, along with healthy eating and physical
activity, helps your body use the insulin that has already been produced
by your pancreas, effectively opening the lock of insulin resistance and
allowing the glucose to pass into your cells. |
