What should you discuss with your
healthcare provider before using Combivent?
It is recommended that before using Combivent tell your doctor if you have—
- liver or kidney disease,
- epilepsy or another seizure disorder,
- an enlarged prostate or a bladder obstruction,
- heart disease or high blood pressure,
- glaucoma (the narrow-angle form), diabetes, or
- an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
If you are having any of the conditions listed above, you may require a
dosage adjustment or special monitoring
If you have a soya lecithin allergy (e.g., an allergy to soybeans or peanuts),
do not use the Combivent Inhaler.
It is recommended not to take Combivent without first talking to your doctor
if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. Combivent
is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether
it will be harmful to an unborn baby
Without consulting to your doctor, do not take Combivent if you are breast-feeding
a baby. This is because it is not known that Combivent passes into breast
milk and may affect a nursing infant.
Consult with your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or
over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products. Drugs other than
those listed here may also interact with Combivent or affect your condition. Combivent
is used to treat or prevent symptoms of asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis,
or other breathing conditions; this medicine is a bronchodilator and a beta
receptor stimulant combination. It can also be used in other circumstances
for treatment, as if determined by your doctor. |
