Zocor Common Uses Tablets
SIMVASTATIN (SIM-va-stat-in) is the chemical name for Zocor. Active ingredient Simvastatin is the active ingredient in ‘Zocor’ Tablets. Four strengths are available for ‘Zocor’ Tablets- The tablet containing 10 mg simvastatin on one side and on the other side peach-coloured, oval-shaped, film-coated tablets marked ‘MSD 735’. The tablet containing 40 mg simvastatin on one side and on the other side brick-red-coloured, oval-shaped, film-coated tablets marked ‘MSD 749’. The tablet containing 80 mg simvastatin on one side and on the other side brick-red coloured, capsule-shaped, film-coated tablets marked ‘543’. Other ingredients Ascorbic acid E300, butylated hydroxyanisole E320, citric acid monohydrate E330, hydroxypropylcellulose E463, lactose, magnesium stearate E572, microcrystalline cellulose E460, pregelatinised maize starch (pregelatinised starch), talc E553(b), titanium dioxide E171, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose E464 (hypromellose). In addition Red iron oxide E172 is also contained in ‘Zocor’ 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg and 80 mg Tablets. Yellow iron oxide E172 is also contained in ‘Zocor’ 10 mg and 20 mg tablets. Calendar packs containing 28 tablets, 4 tablets or one tablet packs are available for Zocor’ Tablets. Also, these tablets are available in white high density polyethylene or polypropylene bottles or amber glass bottles containing 50 tablets. If you are also taking gemfibrozil, HIV protease inhibitors (such as ritonavir, lopinavir, nelfinavir), azole antifungals (such as itraconazole or ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, or troleandomycin), or nefazodone then do not take this medicine. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking currently. If you are taking amiodarone, "blood thinners" such as warfarin, fibrates (such as clofibrate or fenofibrate), bosentan, cyclosporine, dalfopristin or quinupristin, digoxin, diltiazem, fluconazole, imatinib, high doses of niacin (1 gram or more per day), rifamycins such as rifampin, St. John's wort, verapamil, or voriconazole than additional observation should be required of your dose.
