Directions
For using this medicine, follow all the instructions as given by your doctor. The dosage of this medicine can be taken with or without food. If anyways not suggested by your doctor, take Zocor in the evening. At the same time when you have taken Zocor do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. And it should be stored at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly-sealed container and in a dry place and away from heat and direct light. Even if you feel well do not stop taking this medicine. Any doses should not be missed by you. Take the medicine immediately if you miss the dose and remembered on the same day but if it’s the time for your next dose leave out the missed dose and take the medicine according to your regular dosing schedule, do not take 2 doses at once. Usually 20 or 40 mg tablet a day which is given as a single dose in the evening is a beginning dosage. The body produces the most cholesterol at night that is why it is recommended that ‘Zocor’ should be taken in the evening or at night. 80 mg dose per day is the maximum dose that can be prescribed by your doctor which is given as a single dose in the evening. The patients with severe hypercholesterolaemia and high risk cardiovascular complications are only the individuals to whom these 80mg dose is recommended. If you are taking certain other medications then your doctor may prescribe you lower dose. This dose will be changed accordingly by your doctorto have a best effect. Take the dose as prescribed by doctor, do not take more or less without asking your doctor. Take the Zocor tablets as long as advised by your doctor.Cholesterol level may rise again if you stop taking Zocor.

Cautions
If you have had an allergic reaction or are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine than do not take Zocor. The full effect of this medicine can be seen after few weeks. Without consulting your doctor do not stop taking this medicine. It depends on your medical condition, response to therapy, and the other medicines that what quantity of dosage you are required. It is advised not to exceed the recommended dose. To observe your progress or to check for side effects, Laboratory and/or medical tests such as blood cholesterol levels, liver function tests, or muscle tests may be done at the beginning of the therapy. At the same time when you are taking the medicine, keep all doctor and laboratory appointments. Inform the doctor or dentist that you are using Zocor before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery. Risk for liver problems may be increased by using Zocor. Consult with your doctor about the safe use of Zocor if you are using alcohol. When this medicine is taken at higher doses or when taken with certain other medicines, this medicine may cause injury to your muscles. If you experience muscle pain or weakness, especially with a fever contact your doctor as soon as possible. While you are taking Zocor, do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice because it may increase the amount of this medicine in your blood. Before including grapefruit or grapefruit juice in your diet, consult with your doctor. All prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist while you start taking any new medicine. F0R WOMEN: While taking this medicine, if you are able to become pregnant, consult with your doctor pharmacist about the use of effective birth control. If you are pregnant, do not use this medicine. Contact your doctor immediately, if you suspect that you could be pregnant. It is not known if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. While taking this medicine, do not breast-feed.
