Directions
For using this medicine, follow all the instructions as given by your doctor. Unless otherwise directed by your doctors take the dosage of this medicine in the morning. Before eating, take this medicine. Ingest the whole capsule. Capsule should not be chewed or crushed, ingest the whole capsule. The capsule can be opened and sprinkled contents can be taken with soft food (e.g., applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt), or emptied into a small amount (2 oz or 60 ml) of juice if it is difficult for you to ingest the whole capsule. To make sure that the whole of the content of dose is taken, you should rinse the container with an additional small amount of juice and drink it. The food/medication mixture should not be chewed and also do not prepare the mixture in advance for long-term use. Prepare the mixture when it is the time for taking the dose. If you prepare the mixture in advance it will not only destroy the medicine but also you may have increased side effects of the medicine. The effectiveness of medicines such as sucralfate, antifungals ketoconazole and itraconazole may get decreased if taken with this medicine. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about the timings of your doses of each medicine; if you have to take these medicines (sucralfate, antifungals ketoconazole and itraconazole) while taking Prevacid. Take the Prevacid at least 30 minutes before taking the Sucralfate. For best results continue to take this medicine regularly. Take the medicine daily at same time so that you remember to take it regularly. Even if you feel well do not stop taking this medicine. Any doses should not be missed by you. Take the medicine immediately if you miss the dose and remembered on the same day but if it’s the time for your next dose, leave out the missed dose and take the medicine according to your regular dosing schedule, do not take 2 doses at once.

Cautions
If you have had an allergic reaction or are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine than do not take Prevacid. At the same time when you are taking the medicine, keep all doctor and laboratory appointments. All prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist while you start taking any new medicine. F0R WOMEN: Consult with your doctor about all the benefits and risks of using this medicine if you plan on becoming pregnant especially during the third trimester. It is not known if this medicine is excreted in breast milk.. While taking this medicine, do not breast-feed.
