AMLODIPINE (am-LOE-di-peen) is the chemical name for Norvasc.
Norvasc Common Uses
Norvasc is used to control high blood pressure or angina
(chest pain); this medicine is a calcium channel blocker.
This medicine also helps to prevent strokes, heart attacks
and kidney problems. It can also be used in other circumstances
for treatment, as if determined by your doctor.
Before Using Norvasc
There are chances that any other medicines or medical
conditions may interact with this medicine therefore all
prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are
taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist. If
you are also taking another medicine that contains amlodipine
then do not take this medicine. If you are taking other
medicines for high blood pressure (e.g., beta-blockers,
diuretics), intravenous (IV) calcium, or other medicines
for chest pain such as nitroglycerin than additional observation
should be required of your dose or condition. Without
consulting doctor do not start or stop taking the medicine.
If you have any other medical conditions including heart
disease, liver disease, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding
than immediately inform your doctor. If you have a history
of low blood pressure, it is recommended to not to take
