ESOMEPRAZOLE (ess-oh-MEP-ra-zole) is the chemical name
for Nexium.
Gastro-resistant tablet
20 mg: on the one side and on the other
side light pink-coloured, oblong, biconvex, film-coated
tablet.
40 mg: on the one side and on the other
side a pink-coloured, oblong, biconvex, film-coated tablet.
Nexium Common Uses
Nexium is used to treat heartburn, or gastroesophageal
reflux, this medicine is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI).
To treat Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and
duodenal ulcers it can be used in combination with two
antibiotics. It can also be used in other circumstances
for treatment, as if determined by your doctor
Before Using Nexium
There are chances that any other medicines or medical
conditions may interact with this medicine therefore all
prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are
taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist. If
you are taking cilostazol, diazepam, digoxin, iron, itraconazole,
ketoconazole, sucralfate, or vitamins with iron than additional
observation should be required of your dose. If you have
any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or
breast-feeding than immediately inform your doctor. Also,
if you have liver disease than additional supervision
of your dose or condition may be required. And if you
have any queries regarding the medicine than also contact
your doctor.
