Directions
For using this medicine, follow all the instructions as given by your doctor. Capsule should not be chewed or crushed, ingest the whole capsule. Unless otherwise directed by your doctors take the dosage of this medicine at least 1 hour before a meal. The capsule can be opened and sprinkled contents can be taken with 1 tablespoon of applesauce if it is difficult for you to ingest the whole capsule. Ingest the medicine immediately after mixing it with the applesauce. Take the applesauce which should not be hot and should be soft enough to consume without chewing. If your doctor has instructed you to take antacids then this medicine may be taken with antacids. And this medicine should be stored at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly-sealed container and in a dry place away to avoid moisture and away from heat and direct light. If sometimes you do not remember that you have taken the dose a day or not and even if you missed the dose next day also then skip the missed dose and take the medicine according to your regular dosing schedule, do not take 2 doses at once.

Children and adolescents
No data is available or as such there is not any experience for using this medicine for children. Do not use NEXIUM for children.

Impaired renal function
Patients with impaired renal function do not require any adjustments in doses.
Patients with severe renal insufficiency should be treated with carefulness because as such there is limited experience for treating with such patients.

Impaired hepatic function
Patients with mild to moderate liver impairment do not require any adjustments in doses. A maximum dose of 20 mg NEXIUM should not be exceeded, for patients with severe liver impairment.

Elderly
Elder patients do not require any adjustments in doses.

Cautions
All prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist while you start taking any new medicine. F0R WOMEN: Consult with your doctor about all the benefits and risks of using this medicine if you plan on becoming pregnant especially during the third trimester. It is not known if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. While taking this medicine, if you are or will be breast-feeding, ask your doctor to discuss the risks to your baby.
Additional observation is required for the patients on long-term treatment (particularly those treated for more than a year). Consult your doctor or physician if the symptoms of patients on on-demand treatment change in character. This medicine should not be taken by the patients who have hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency.
