Tablets
ALENDRONATE (a-LEN-droe-nate) is the chemical name for
Fosamax.
Active ingredient
Fosamax is available in 2 main strengths – as
a 10mg and 70mg tablets.
Other ingredients
Microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous lactose, croscarmellose
sodium and magnesium stearate.
Fosamax Common Uses
Fosamax is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis; this
medicine is a bisphosphonate. It can also be used in
other circumstances for treatment, as if determined
by your doctor.
Before Using Fosamax
There are chances that any other medicines or medical
conditions may interact with this medicine therefore
all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that
you are taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist.
If you are taking aspirin and NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen,
naproxen) than additional observation should be required
of your dose. If you have any other medical conditions,
allergies, than immediately inform your doctor. If you
have a history of trouble swallowing, or low levels
of calcium, it is recommended to not take Fosamax. If
