VENLAFAXINE (VEN-la-fax-een) is the chemical name for
Effexor.
Effexor Common Uses
Effexor is used to treat depression; this medicine is
an antidepressant. It can also be used in other circumstances
for treatment, as if determined by your doctor.
Before Using Effexor
There are chances that any other medicines or medical
conditions may interact with this medicine therefore all
prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are
taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist. If
you are also taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI),
fenfluramine, dexfenfluramine, sibutramine, or tramadol
then do not take this medicine. Before starting this medicine,
inform your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines
you are taking currently. If you are taking cyproheptadine
or lithium than additional observation should be required
of your dose or condition. Without consulting doctor do
not start or stop taking the medicine. If you have any
other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding
than immediately inform your doctor and if you have any
further queries regarding the medicine than contact your
doctor.
Storage
Effexor should be stored at room temperature between 20-25°C
(68-77°F) in a tightly-sealed container and in a dry
place and away from heat and direct light.
