Actifed is a combination medication used to temporarily treat runny/stuffy nose and other symptoms (e.g., ear congestion, watery/itchy eyes, itchy throat) caused by allergies, hay fever, the common cold, or other breathing illnesses (e.g., sinusitis).

Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose). Triprolidine is an antihistamine that reduces the natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. The combination of Pseudoephedrine (a decongestant) and Triprolidine (an antihistamine) relieves itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny or stuffy nose caused by hay fever, allergies, and the common cold.
