Niaspan (generic name: Niacin Extended-Release Tablets) is a FDA approved medication for the treatment of high cholesterol. Niacin is a type of vitamin B, and works by decreasing the amount of ‘bad’ cholesterol and triglycerides, and increasing the ‘good’ cholesterol levels in the blood.
