Cafergot Suppositories Information:
Cafergot (Ergotamine) is an ergot alkaloid and analgesic aid combination used to prevent and treat migraine headaches. Cafergot (Ergotamine) may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Cafergot Suppositories Side Effects:Cafergot side effects, that may go away during treatment, include nausea, vomiting, weakness of the legs, or arm or leg pain. If Cafergot side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience Cafergot side effects like numbness or tingling of your fingers or toes, chest pain, change in heart rate, bluish discoloration of the fingers and toes, or itching. If you notice other Cafergot side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. BEGIN USING Cafergot at the first sign of an attack. IF THE SUPPOSITORY IS TOO SOFT TO USE, put it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes or run cold water over it. Then remove the wrapper and moisten the Cafergot suppository with cool water. Lie down on your side. Use your finger to push the pointed end of the suppository well up into the rectum. Wash your hands thoroughly after using Cafergot. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use Cafergot for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Do not use daily on a regular basis. In adults, do not use more than 2 suppositories per attack or more than 5 suppositories in a week. AVOID EATING GRAPEFRUIT OR DRINKING GRAPEFRUIT JUICE WHILE USING Cafergot. STORE Cafergot as directed on the prescription label.
