Asacol Common Uses
It is imperative that one should not crush, break, or
chew the capsules or tablet. It is meant to be swallowed
in whole. Mesalamine are specially designed to release
the medication only after they have passed through ones
stomach. In case you find a not dissolved tablet in your
stool please notify your doctor.
It is hard to tell the exact way mesalamine works and
it is currently unknown, but it is believed that is used
to reduce the actions of a substance in the body that
causes inflammation, tissue damage, and diarrhea. Mesalamine
is generally used to treat diseases like ulcerative colitis,
proctitis, and proctosigmoiditis. Mesalamine can also
be used to prevent the symptoms of ulcerative colitis
from occurring again.
Before Using Asacol
In case any type of kidney disease please tell your
doctor, as you may require a lower dose or special monitoring
during your therapy with mesalamine. Mesalamine is in
the FDA pregnancy category B which means the usage of
the drug will not harm an unborn baby. Though it is not
advisable take mesalamine without first talking to your
doctor if you are pregnant. Mesalamine passes into breast
milk and may affect a nursing baby.
