Special warnings about Ambien
It is recommended not to take the sleep medications more than few weeks
because some may lose their effectiveness. If you use them for daily purpose
for a longer period or if you take high doses then there is possibility
that you will become dependent on these medicines for having a proper sleep.
There are chances that you may experience unusual changes like in thinking
and/or behavior, if you are using Ambien and especially if you are taking
serotonin-boosting antidepressants.
Special type of memory loss can be caused by using Ambien and other sleep
medicines. It is advised not to take sleep medications on an overnight airplane
flight of less than 7 to 8 hours because there can be chances that "traveler's
amnesia" may occur.
When you begin to take the Ambien first time, until you know whether Ambien
or any other sleep medication will have any "carry over" effect
the next day, it is advised to take a proper care while doing anything which
requires complete alertness, such as driving a car or operating machinery.
Especially older people should be aware that they may be more apt to fall.
If you have liver problems, use the Ambien cautiously. It will take longer
for its effects to lessen.
Consult your doctor before discontinuing the Ambien, if you have taken the
Ambien more than 1 or 2 weeks. Withdrawal symptoms like unpleasant feelings
to vomiting and cramps can occur if you suddenly discontinue or stop using
sleep medication.
Side effects of this drug can increase if you drink alcohol while using
Ambien. There is possibility that if you have breathing problems, they may
become worse when you use Ambien. Ambien
is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling or
staying asleep); this medicine is a sedative-hypnotic. |
