Cautions
Without first consulting with your doctor, it is recommended
not to stop using this medicine or other diabetes medicine.
Before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine or changing
your diet, inform your doctor. You are at an increased risk
of becoming hypoglycemic (low blood sugar), if you are taking
Actos with other diabetes medicine. An increased heartbeat,
headache, sweating, tremor, increased hunger, changes in vision,
nervousness, or tiredness are the symbols of hypoglycemia. Talk
with your doctor or nurse how to handle hypoglycemic reactions.
At the same time when you are taking the medicine, keep all
doctor and laboratory appointments. Before you start taking
this medicine and during treatment to monitor your progress
or to check for side effects, your laboratory and/or medical
tests such as liver function tests and HBA1C blood levels tests
should be done. Inform the doctor or dentist that you are taking
Actos, before having any medical or dental treatments, emergency
care, or surgery. All prescription and over-the-counter medicine
that you are taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist
while you start taking any new medicine. F0R WOMEN: Actos may
decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pill; use an
additional form of birth control, to prevent pregnancy. By causing
ovulation to resume in premenopausal women who have not been
ovulating, Actos may increase your chance of pregnancy. Consult
with your doctor about all the benefits and risks of using this
medicine if you plan on becoming pregnant especially during
the third trimester. It is not known if this medicine is excreted
in breast milk. While taking this medicine, do not breast-feed.
