Directions
For using this medicine, follow all the instructions as given by your doctor. Information leaflet is available for patients with the medicine. Read the information leaflet carefully. Consult your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist if you have any questions about Actonel. Take a single dose of Actonel every week. Select one day from a week which best suits your schedule. Ingest the whole capsule. Capsule should not be chewed or crushed, before swallowing. The first thing in the morning, take Actonel with 6-8 ounces of plain water only. Take the difference of at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking any other medicine and it will be more beneficial if you take it 60 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking any other medicine. Actonel is effective only if taken on an empty stomach. After taking this medicine and until after your first food of the day, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes. With the absorption of Actonel, calcium or iron supplements, vitamins, or antacids containing calcium, magnesium, or aluminum may be interfered. After taking risedronate do not take these products or any other medicines for at least 30 minutes. And it should be stored at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly-sealed container and in a dry place and away from heat and direct light. Any doses should not be missed by you. Take the medicine immediately if you remember that you have missed the dose; take it on the next morning and afterwards take the dose on your regular schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Cautions
You should take enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet when taking Actonel. If you have questions about your diet or about taking dietary supplements such as calcium or vitamin D, consult your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. At the same time when you are taking the medicine, keep all doctor and laboratory appointments. Consult with your doctor before starting Actonel, if you have any type of surgery and cannot sit or stand upright. All prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking should be known by your doctor or pharmacist while you start taking any new medicine. This includes any medicines that contain aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. F0R WOMEN: Consult with your doctor about all the benefits and risks of using this medicine if you plan on becoming pregnant especially during the third trimester. It is not known if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. While taking this medicine, ask your doctor to discuss the risks to your baby, if you are or will be breast-feeding.
